HAPPY VALENTINE AND CNY!

Dear faithfull readers,

Thank you for still following this blog and sending me emails. I have been baking for quite sometimes and Valentine's day is one of my busiest day. Many times I almost cant make it to our Valentine's dinner. And even if I do, I'll be totally tired.

Since I am taking a break I have a full rest day and enjoying Valentine's dan for this year, a wonderful Chinese New Year. So,It's eating time for me.

Super Mini Cupcakes

These super mini cupcakes made ways to OP ( Office Pub) last saturday.. It's super cute, I only agree to make this as the owner insisted that he wanted to give three flavours of our cupcakes to their guest..I heard those who came really had a blast. I was rushing to attend a photoshoot - not me (lol) but my cake by photographer. Will let you know where you can see the pictures of my cake and cupcakes. It's funny seeing the photographer taking the pictures of one cake for more than half an hour. Imagine life of a model..

Peach Cheese Cake

I love to bake Cheese cakes. The reason, I can bake two at once and kept one for myself. I baked these peach cheesecakes together with Florence's Blueberry Cheesecakes. The only problem I faced was, I have to 'fight' with hubby and my maid to eat them. I left two pieces in the fridge but found out there were eaten by hubby and the leftover by my maid. So I have to wait for another order to have another cheesecake for me to eat...sigh..

Pick your favourite Mini Cupcakes

For those who are planning to have an engagement or wedding like J, here are some mini cupcakes design for you to choose.

Before you pick the design, decide what is the amount of cupcakes you should order. Let me give you some idea. If you are having just a small hi tea season with four or five of your friends, 25 or 30 pieces of cupcakes will be enough for the five of you. If you are having a small party with family, consider having 50 pieces especially when children are around. My nieces and nephew can easily eat 10 pieces of these mini cupcakes.

If you are having guest to your house for a small party, have more of it. You woundn't want anyone to miss having a bite of the cuppies. I would suggest count or estimate your number of guest and give at least two pieces to each of them and remeber I have not include children here. Children will need at least five cupcakes. So, if you have around 20 to 30 people, get 100 pieces, minimum!

These are made of sugar paste flower. Although they are edible, I won't recommend you to eat them as they are tastless and quite hard. But since the flowers are kind of cute and small, most people just eat them. Will not cause you any harm. Sugar flower looks prettier than fondant but fondant does taste better. Your choice!

Just a short message to let you all know that I am back. Will take sometime to update this blog as I only can blog while my baby is sleeping. It's 2.30 am and I have been sleeping and waking up for the forth times. Sona wakes up every half an hour. She needs a little time to get use to her cot and our room. This is the time of the year to get married. In fact, wedding can be anytime of the year but planning should be a year in advance.

Planning for a Wedding Cakes

Do you know how to order a wedding cake?

Do you have any idea?

What is your budget?

What type of cake do you prefer? Traditional?

Let me give you one idea at a time.

How to decide on the size or the number of tier for your cake? If you are planning to help in wedding arrangement, this is an important thing to know. First, estimate the number of your guest. Is your guest coming alone or you are inviting Mr & Mrs. If yes, then, there will be two person in one invites. Let say, you distribute 100 pieces of wedding cards. Do check this site for beautiful handmade design wedding cards. Then your guest will be 200. Well, sure not everybody will be able to attend you wedding even though you wish all will be there to witness your joyous occasion. You can deduct 20% attendance. So, it will be 160. We just assume some you your guest will not bring friend, friends or family members as it does happens when four persons come instead of two.

To prepare for 160 people, you will need a cake or cakes that can serve everybody with a handsome serving.
