All 3 in 1

This is a special cakes. Why I said that, It's a 3 in 1 flavours cake and made with 3 in 1 designs. I accidentally set this trend of using thress different designs for a 3 tier cakes. Being white, it's actually easier to decorate this cake with whatever flowers that you can think off. Using fresh flowers to decorate a white cake is just perfect. The top is fruit, middle cake is chocolate mud cake and the base is a butter cake. Why need 3 flavours? Easy peasy answer. I think fruit cake is still the best cake to have for a wedding as people don't get to eat fruit cake everyday or every occassion. So to mark an important occassion like wedding, it's always good and appropriate to serve your guest with a nice and tasty fruit cake. Having said that, not everyone likes fruit cake as it is known for its sweetness. To carter for those people who do not fancy sweet cake, I would recommend a butter cake. This is the cake that can be eaten by everyone but still do not forget the little ones. Children love weddings as much as adults do. Therefore to serve them, any chocolate cake would be fine. So those who are planning to have a wedding cake for your coming celebration, I hope this tip will help.

Before I forget to mention. The cake above baked and decorated for Dr. Caroline's sister wedding held in Tamparuli during the kaamatan holiday. She is the lady boss of Spices Indian Restaurant at Alam Mesra. Go and visit her and say hi..you may get a free teh tarik after your meal.

5 Tiers Fruit Cakes

It's quite uncommon for bride nowadays to order fruit cakes as their wedding main centre piece. Probably the 80's very sweet taste cakes still linger in their mind- or at least it is for me. My aunt had a five tier fruit cakes as her wedding cakes. The only thing that I remembered was how hard the icing was and how sweet the cakes were. Whenever I suggested fruit cake (even for 1 tier) people always said it is sweet. Fruit cakes are supposed to be sweet but what we have ; sugee fruit cake is less sweet that the old fashion fruit cake .So do try when it's your turn to have your wedding or even anniversaries which fall every year...GRIN.. The best thing about fruit cakes are you can eat it the whole year round..eat bit by bit, it taste better if you leave longer.

Okay, let's go back to the main wedding cakes here:

Five 5 tiers fruit cakes was M choice as her wedding cakes. Her wedding was held early last month. She ordered one fruit cake to try during our recent hari raya promotion and loved the cakes. She even sms me to thank how delicious the cakes were. Honestly I am not a real fan of fruit cake but I do love Sugee fruit cakes compared to the normal rich fruit cake. as the texture is better and it's less sweet that the normal fruit cakes. I'm sure you will like it, too you have to as it took me al least 5 hours to prepare your cake - 3 hours of baking and 2 hours of preparatin and decorating so I will make sure the taste worth the time and money spent! (smile)

note: please give at least 1 month ( 2 weeks for 1 single tier) notice if you want to order this cake.

The details - Rose design embossed on all the cakes

At least 50 pieces roses were used to give this cake, simple yet classy cakes to look at..

Totally In love with..

2 tier stacked cake..

I must thank Evelyn ( A nice and very easy to work with wedding planner in KK- if you need her number do email me) for asking me to make this cake. Honestly I rather make 2 single tier than 2 tier stacked cake as I am quite afraid to deliver this kind of cake. What happen if it collapse while making it or and how would I delivery it? That was constantly on my mind. So earlier this month, I made this cake for one of Evelyn's bride. It was not as hard as I would have imagined and I was actually awed at how it look in the end. I 've made the same design ( by request) quite a number of time and didn't post them here but I must post this one as the height made it look hmmm..more beautiful? So, all bride out there..order is open for this kind of cake. I appologize if I have declined some of past request..

Will make another one for shirley early next month and the colour choice is pink..I just can't wait!

Simplicity There Is

Say you loving words with Cupcakes...

Since you can't write anything on your weddingcakes, say it with cupcakes...that what the two loving couple did.

I have finally baked, decorated and delivered it. The cakes that I have always wanted to do or 'create'. It may look simple but it is a challenge to make a stack cake this way, as it is heavy, taller and harder to cover compare to normal tier cake. It is even harder to deliver. extra care must be taken to transport this type of cake, hence the increase in price compare to normal single cakes. Westerner loves simple cakes like these and so do I. It just look expensive, at least for me. ( smile)Not many decorator dare to make this type of cake. When I got married I can't find someone who can make this type of cake. When I started baking, I understand the reasons behind.

It's just simple decorated cake but I like the setting. The stacks, the colour, just the simplicity. I bought the roses all the way from Kundasang and I am glad I did coz initially I plan to make the decoration with Sugar paste flower but may be next assignement ya.Since the wedding theme is red and white, the bright roses colour compiment the cakes nicely. May be it will look nice too with Orchid and Calla Lilly, Don't you think so? Personally this is a new achievement for me in 2009.

I received a text messages saying " The cake is so delicious"..It's our new and improved butter cake. Well, what more I can say... I am just happy.

Calla Lily Wedding Cake

Carol placed a 'last minute' 3 tiers wedding cakes for her brother wedding which took place last Saturday in Ranau. She she wanted cupcakes and placed her order few months ago, while she was still in Sweden. but... I think she has to 'succumb' ( sorry carol, have to use this word (smile) to have a traditional cake . Nonetheless she still ordered her 5o pieces of Calla Lily cupcakes. Although changed last minute, we still enjoyed making the cakes as well as the flowers. It look great on the cake. Very good choice of flower..

I like to see all the small Calla Lily flowers on top of the cupcakes. It has a class of its own.

In the mood for RED

I actually almost jump ( just kidding) when ( Dr ) Sunita gave me the authority to decorate her in laws anniversary cake recently. I like it when I can come up with a new design and those who let me play with my new design normally get good price as new design has not fix price with it...hint hint

I have been waiting to try RED colour and I am satisfied with how the colour turned out. It is kind of hard to get this red. Bought few type of red but did not give me the results that I wanted until this time. Decorating the board took a lot of time but if people appreciate your work, it worth all the time spent. Thanks Sunita.

Red & White for a Taiwanese Bride

This is the first time I communicated with the groom instead of the bride about their wedding cakes. Ivory sent me an email and after that phone calls came mostly from Lawrence, the man of the day. It's quite strange as most of the time or all the time it will be the bride who normally choose or arrange their wedding cake. I just found out from the blogs of good buddies Benny and Bryan that Ivory is a Taiwanese. ( No wonder..smile..)I should have met both of you guys but time does not permit and I know both were very busy with their wedding preparation.

It just happened that I have a Taiwanese friend too. I won't be surprised if Lawrence know this couple as their kampung are nearby. Chris and Cini. Chris married Cini a Taiwanese in 2004, the same year I got married. I could still remember the two days I spent in Taiwan, the laughter we shared went both me and Cini went to eat japanese noodle somewhre in town, how we communicated, me with no knowledge of Chinese (although I look very much a chinese )and she with lillte knowledge of english and she look more like a kadazan than me. It was good memories which I treasure and cherish and Lawrence and Ivory reminds me of them.

Thank you both of you for giving me the previlage to prepare your wedding cake and cupcakes.

Check their photo and video at Benny's and Bryan's blog.
